I should be working...

Or finishing that commissioned painting. Or getting the second chapter of my fic ready to send to the betas. Or ... working.

So, naturally, I'm playing.

My birthday is this week and all I suddenly want is "The Office" Desk Calendar. Yep, the one that's sold out everywhere. Why "The Office" you may ask? Well, because after seeing it on and off for a few seasons (and enjoying it in a quiet way), I am suddenly and inexplicably in love! Just like that. I got the DVDs for holidays and I can't stop watching them...

Ahem. So, no calendar. And it occurred to me that I am a friggin' graphic designer. And ... I should be working. But instead I did a week's worth of calendar pages. I don't know if or for how long I can keep it up, but it's my birthday week and I can play if I want to! :)

Stupid LJ won't let me post the actual size/high resolution ones. Grr. Still, I've got them printed, stacked and impersonating a calendar on my desk right now! Am happy. :)

Okay, now I can work.... Hmm, what else can I amuse myself with?

I don't watch The Office but these are really nice!!! Like nicer than most desk calendars I have ever seen nice. You have skills!

Thank you!!! :)
In their defense, they have to keep the production values low to offset the cost. I'm sure they have designers who can do a fantastic job. It's just not something they would ever do for a page-a-day that you are going to rip out and discard. I could play with this, because it's mine and I don't have to commercial print it. LOL.

And thank you again! :)

Those are awesome!!!!

But you should at least TRY to get that second chapter off to your beta. It would be the responsible thing to do. ;)

LOL! Yes, it would be a responsible thing to do. And, scout's honor, I am doing it. :)) In all seriousness, I am writing furiously all week (for the past 3 weeks, actually). It's just that I've gotten myself into what is beginning to seem like a novel, and at this point I want to do it justice. Not to send out a half-a**ed job. :) Playing with graphics is basically stress-relief. :)

Your homemade desktop calendar is way better than most I see in stores. I especially enjoyed the Jim Halpert quotes. I do love the JKras.

I think another great birthday present to yourself would be to finish that second chapter. Think of all the gushing comments you'll receive upon posting!

And when is your birthday? You don't have it posted in your profile and I want to give you a shout out on your big day!

Thank you so much! :) I mentioned to someone else that the store-bought ones are made on the cheap, because they are disposable. If I were making this to sell, it would have been a lot more basic. :) Still, I love your complement! :)

I especially enjoyed the Jim Halpert quotes. I do love the JKras.

I do, too. The show is filled with comic geniuses. And in a way, JK has the hardest job. Because he is essentially a straight man. He reacts. And the sheer variety of faces and reactions he provides is astonishing. Plus, Jim Halpert is basically the guy I always wanted to meet in my life. Sigh. LOL.

Ahahaha! I love the subtlety here. ;) Honestly, I am working on it. I have it all basically written out (practically the entire epic mess to rival the "Lord of the Rings" in sheer heft if not in anything else). Problem is, it's in bits and pieces that were pouring out of me for months and months. So the challenge is to whip it all into coherence. And, you know, not traumatize my betas. I will have it done this week and send it to them. It's not a present I promised myself, it's a New Year's resolution. :)

You don't have it posted in your profile and I want to give you a shout out on your big day!

Thank you, dear! :) It's the 18th. I, for some reason, forgot to fill out my profile when I started the LJ and never remembered to do it since. Maybe I should at some point.

Oh man, these are fantastic. Your graphicsa always make my day. And your icon is AMAZING; totally my favorite moment from the show to date. I fucking love Andy Bernard.

Thank you so much! I love that moment! Ed is such a great comedian. And that "Oompa-Loompa" song literally made roll off my chair. :)

I love Andy Bernard, too! I actually pretty much love all of them (for different reasons), but Andy with his misguided tactics, his singing, his dogged persistence, and his remarkable ability to emulate whoever it is he feels he needs to impress... He is just special! LOL. I have this whole series of icons that I want to do. Like this one, but with other Andy "classics." Sigh, someday, when I have that copious amount of free time I keep promising myself... :))

I watch The Office on occasion, but have never been able to get into it religiously. Still, the show is ridiculously quotable, and your calender graphics are really good.

It's weird, but it happens to me sometimes. I watch something now and again, I like it well enough, but it doesn't get to me on any deep level. And then, for no big reason, it just grabs me and sucks me in. I watched "The Office" from the beginning. That is, I watched it when I remembered, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't something I obsessed about. And then I got the DVDs as a gift, had a day of total rest to watch them in, and, it's as if the right time, the right hook and the right mood had aligned. Suddenly I can't stop watching or quoting. :))

I always found it funny, but I never noticed how poignant and subtly hopeful it could be until recently.

And thank you! I love doing graphics. Especially of something that I like. :)

This is just great! I've only seen snippets of "The Office" but have been meaning to add to Netflix. Umm, if you find you need to find amusement again while working? ... a monthly Logan/Josef/JD calendar? Just suggesting ... ;-)

I may be biased, but I highly recommend it. At the very least, it's a laugh riot. And who can't use that in their lives? :)

LOL. Don't think I am not planning on that! :) God, if I had my way, all I'll be doing is those fun graphic projects, incorporating my favorite things. Well, painting, too. And writing fanfics. Sigh, why do I have to work for a living? So unfair! :))

I saw [info]skyroom80's post! Where've you been hiding your birthday!

Aw! Thank you so much! :))

I'm just a loser who keeps forgetting to fill out the profile info for the LJ! Honestly, not hiding. :)

Thank you again, dear!

I'm going to say Happy Belated Birthday again because I'm a loser and I missed your actual birthday even though I told you I wanted to give you a shout-out. I had a crisis at work on Friday, and unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. I know I don't have to make an excuse, but I wanted to because I said I would wish you well on your big day and I totally failed.

I do hope it was fabulous and next year I'll get it right. :-)

Ooh, I was also going to wish you a visit from JD on your big day, preferably naked, but since I blew that, how about Thursday? Does that work for you?

Thank you so much, dearest! You are NOT a loser! For one thing, I had a crisis of my own at work on Friday (gah, why do those always happen at the worst possible times? It's like they know! LOL), and I didn't even open my LJ until late yesterday! And then for some reason it refused to allow me to post a reply to your kind birthday wishes on your own page! (When it rains...). :)

Anyway, thank you so much again! You are the best!

Also, I am definitely looking forward to this Thursday! A naked JD will brighten any day! (Or night...). Hmm. Am I supposed to work now? LOL.

*Hugs you!*

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

I love The Office. I loved the UK version but that love has never compared to love I feel for the US version of The Office!

The calendar pages? GENIUS. Artistic genius! You rock. :)

Thank you! Both for the birthday wishes and the kind words! :)

And I feel the same way: I really liked the UK version and when I heard they were going to remake it here, I had horrible "Coupling" flashbacks. LOL. But man, I adore The (US) Office now! I don't know what took me this long (probably the fact that I never, until recently, got to sit down and actually watch it through and pay attention)!

And now I'm making this calendar. LOL. And I mean, I'm making it! 300 + pages. :) I've got almost 2 more weeks done, so I will post them soon.

Thank you again, and I hope you and the tiny three-some are well! :)
